Swami Vivekananda Scholarship – Eligibility, Dates & Application Details:-The Swami Vivekananda Merit Cum Means Scholarship is offered by the state of West Bengal. The objective is to extend financial help to the meritorious students belonging to the economically backward families of the State. By this scheme the scholarship is given at various levels of Higher Education, at the West Bengal based educational institutions.
According to the sources of svmcm.wbhed.gov.in this scheme shall assist the students of the following category:
# Scope of the Scholarship Scheme Swami Vivekananda Scholarship
Students of Classes XI and XII
Under Graduate level students (Engineering, Medical and Technical courses)
Post Graduate level students who are pursuing General degree courses.
Students who are doing M.Phil. courses and Doctoral courses (NET-LECTURESHIP and NON-NET JUNIOR RESEARCH FELLOW) from the state aided institutions are also under the scope of the scheme.
The Kanyashree recipients (K-2) who have done their Under Graduate level studies (with 45% marks) from State based institutions, and are now pursuing different Post Graduate degrees in Arts, Science and Commerce stream from the State based Universities, come under the purview of the scheme.
The upper limit of family income of the concerning student is Rs.2,50,000/- per annum.
One need not submit the hard copy of the application. But providing the bank details of the candidate (i.e. Bank Name, A/C No. and IFS Code of Bank) is a must.Note: After the applying and getting selected for this this scheme the candidate will not be allowed to opt for any other state/central governmental scholarship or stipend for the same course or level of study.
# Criteria for Means Judging Swami Vivekananda Scholarship
Most importantly, the total family income of the candidate must not be above Rs.2,50,000 per annum.Please take note that any type of intentional falsification in the income statement will be counted as a serious offence and might be subjected to grievous disciplinary measures such as:
Immediate and mandatory return of the scholarship amount that has been already enjoyed by the candidate.
Complete restrictions on the candidate’s right to opt for any governmental scholarship in the future.
Being charged with penal provisions of other relevant laws in force for the time being.
So it is expected that the worthy scholar maintains utmost honesty in the process.
# Criteria for Merit judging for Swami Vivekananda Scholarship
The candidates with a total family income of Rs.2,50,000 per annum at max. will be selected for the scheme on the basic of their academic merit in the following manner:
HS- level students: The candidate must have passed his/her Madhyamik examination with a minimum of 75% in aggregate. However any candidate who has not passed from the West Bengal board of secondary education but from any other boards, are not eligible to avail the scholarship.
Diploma- level students: The first year Diploma course students who have been enrolled after passing the Madhyamik examination or its equivalent in 2016 can apply. However the candidate must have scored at least 75% in aggregate in the qualifying exam for availing the scholarship.
UG-level students: The candidate must have obtained a minimum of 75% marks in aggregate, in the H.S examination under W.B. Council of H.S. Education/ Madrasah Shiksha Parishad for being eligible to apply for this scheme. Separate merit lists are published for the UG (Arts), UG (Science), and UG (Commerce) departments.
G- level Students: Candidate should be an Honours graduate with a minimum marks of 53% for being eligible to apply for the scholarship. Take a note that the marks scored in the Honours subject shall be the soul deciding criterion academically for awarding the PG- level scholarship under this scheme.
# Procedure for Application and Sanction of Swami Vivekananda Scholarship
Candidates have make online submission of their applications in the scholarship portal. Applications i.r.o scholarship cases will then be arranged in a descending order (on the basis of the marks secured by the candidate in the qualifying examination apart from the income/means criteria). The scholarship will be provided according to the availability of funds and of course on the basis of the merit list.Payment will be made to the beneficiaries account if the documents are apt.This scholarship scheme is no doubt a noble approach towards the betterment of the budding students of the state of West Bengal. Financial crisis will no more be a hurdle in the academic career of the meritorious students belonging to the economically backward families.
