Post Matric Scholarship Scheme for Minority Communities:- The main aim of this scholarship scheme is to give Scholarships the hardworking students belonging to economically backward sections of the minority communities. This is an approach which will provide these students with better opportunities for higher studies and increase their rate of pursuing higher education. This will certainly give a considerable boost to their employ-ability.

Area of coverage:-

This scheme is meant for minority category students of India who are studying in a government or private higher secondary school/ college/ University. The scheme also covers those residential institutes of the Government as well as the eligible private institutes that are selected with utmost transparency by the concerned State Government/ Union Territory Administration.

It also rewards scholarship for the technical and vocational courses in Industrial Training institutes/ Industrial Training Center’s affiliated with the National Council for Vocational Training i.e NCVT (for class 11 and 12 level). 

However any course whose duration is less than one year is not under the provision of this scheme. Scholarships for Certificate courses are also not granted by the scheme.

Distribution of rewards of Post Matric Scholarship

Under Section 2 ( c) of the National Commission for Minorities Act,1992, the following communities have ? notified as minority communities:

  • Muslim
  • Christian
  • Buddhist
  • Jain
  • Sikh
  • Zoroastrians(Parsis).

Apart from Renewal Scholarships a total amount of Five Lakh Rupees have been planned to be distributed as ‘fresh’ Scholarships.

Eligibility criteria for Post Matric Scholarship

The following conditions are a must for a student to be eligible for this scholarship scheme:

  • The candidate must belong to Muslim/ Buddhist/ Christian/ Jain/ Sikh/ Parsi community.
  • The candidate must have secured at least 50% marks in the previous exam.
  • The total family income of the candidate must not exceed Rupees 2 Lakes per annul.
  • The candidate can be a day scholar as well as hosteler.

Method of selection:-

 The number of Scholarships available are limited. Candidates coming from BPL families will be given preference in the ascending order of their total family income.

No merit list will be made for the rewal cases. Those who have applied for renewal will be eligible for the scholarship if they have obtained at least 50% marks in their last final exam. His or her application will get verified by all the concerned authorities and then he/ she might get approval.

Conditions of the scheme:-

  1. Candidates with marks below 50% in their previous final examination will be disqualified.
  2. Candidates whose family income exceeds 2 Lakh Rupees will be disqualified.
  3. The candidates belonging to BPL family and with the lowest family income will be given more preference over others.
  4. The applications for renewal shall be completely exhausted before any fresh application is approved.
  5. The student must be a regular and disciplined one.
  6. A student is not allowed to change school/ college/ University of he/ she is a renewal applicant.
  7. The scholarship will be stopped or cancel on the violation of any of the terms.
  8. More than two students from the same family will not be considered for the scholarship 
  9. Scholarship won’t be given on crossing the stipulated period to obtain certificate/ M. Phil Degree/ Doctorate Degree.

Renewal: 

Those who are enjoying the reward can renew it during the succeeding academic year of the course. He/ she must have obtained at least 50% in the previous final exam. 

How to Apply for Post Matric Scholarship Scheme

The state government/ Union territory administration shall make an announcement of the scheme in the leading newspaper or local dailies. Other suitable publication mediums are also used.

The following documents must be scanned and uploaded while applying for the scheme:

  • Photo of the candidate
  • Verification form of the institution
  • Income certificate
  • The 18+ students a self certified community certificate is necessary.
  • For the students who have not attained 18 years yet, a community certificate certified by his/ her parent/guardian is necessary.
  • Fresh applicants: Self attested certificate of previous year’s academic mark sheet is required.
  • For renewal applicants: self- attested copy of previous year’s academic mark sheet is required.
  • One must provide the free receipt of the current academic year.
  • Providing proofs of the student’s own bank account is mandatory.
  • Aadhar Card have to be produced
  • Resident certificate is a must
